Only The Brave (2/2 Hats)

Austinn Says Hats Off:

Just saw ‘Only the Brave’: Don’t Bother Quitting Because You’re Fired. conclusion: 9/10. I loved this movie. It felt very real, and there was a perfect mix between great dialogue and cool action. I haven’t been a big fan of Miles Teller since he was in Whiplash but he was amazing in this, as was Josh Brolin. There are a lot of emotional and powerful moments in the film, and it’s definitely a story worthy of telling. I also really appreciated the end credits and how the movie paid respect to the Granite Mountain Hotshots. #hotandbothered #blazin #drunkendonut #beattheheat #unfriendlyfire #smokeythebear #15minutesofflame

Kelvin Says Hats Off:

Just saw “Only the Brave: Fire Work.” Conclusion: 8/10. Recent-history movies are a bit of a pet peeve of mine. At their worst, they can feel cynical and opportunistic. What this movie does that many similar ones don’t is it tries to flesh out its characters without constantly trying to hit you over the head with their inevitable sacrifice. The movie takes care to explore the traits and flaws in these men. Being able to see how the characters are driven by both their sense of duty and by their shortcomings ends up giving the story a richer and more emotional feel to it. I don’t think it’s a perfect movie, and I’d say that there are some clichés that muddle about, but the movie avoids feeling contrived and manipulative. The ensemble performance is fantastic, by the way. Josh Brolin, Miles Teller, Jeff Bridges, and Jennifer Connelly all knock it out of the park. I think they do their subjects justice and unlike some recent-history movies of late, I think the film works rather tastefully. #BurningBridges #GraniteEarth #500BlazeOfSummer #ThisBearIsOneFire #FrequentFireProgram
