Suburbicon (0/1 Hats)

Kelvin Says Hats On:

Just saw “Suburbicon: He’d Like to Lodge a Claim.” Conclusion: 3/10. My goodness, this movie is a total mess. There is not a single coherent thought or theme offered anywhere in this picture. What’s more, it actually managed to make me actively annoyed at this film’s existence. The two main story-lines do not go together in this movie at all. In one corner, we have a racial commentary picture. In the other, we have a farcical murder mystery. Other than the fact that things don’t connect between the two story-lines at all, and neither one offers an interesting or worthwhile thought, I’d say it worked pretty well…. I’m genuinely struggling to find things that actually are good with this movie. Oscar Isaac. Whatever actor plays the kid. The costume and set design. That’s about all I got. The self-importance and smugness this film carries with it is what I found most off-putting. Trying to pretend like it’s offering some Very Important Commentary™ becomes old pretty quickly. It’s not clever, it’s not funny, and it sure ain’t good. #SuburbiconArtist #GoodFencesMakeGoodNeighbors #DoesThisSmellLikeChloroform #GetAClooney #ARuseba #SafeSipHome #RoseDud
