Molly’s Game (3/3 Hats)

Austinn Says Hats Off:

Just saw ‘Molly’s Game’: Bad Luck All In. Conclusion: 9/10. This is like the gold standard for screenplay writing, and it of course has Aaron Sorkin written all over it. Sorkin’s screenplays are very unique and well crafted, and the writing in this is no different. He also does a great job for his first time directing. This is like The Big Short of 2017. Chastain and Elba are both terrific in their roles, and there were also a lot of great supporting performances. The story is long but stays interesting throughout, and there are a lot of really well-done sequences with interesting cinematography and quick cuts. As for complaints, there is a ton of narration and although it’s done well, it can be a bit much. I also wish that some of the characters or plot points were given more resolution. Sorkin delivers once again, and I’m excited to see what he directs next. This film was so good. Jessica Chastain was incredible! Probably one of the best roles that I’ve ever seen her play. Idris Elba was very, very good as well, as was the cast as a whole. This movie was very well acted and very well written. I was excited for this movie before seeing it and was really impressed with it. They did some subtle things with the camera to show greater emotion in some of the more intense scenes that showed a great attention to detail. This movie is inside my Top 5 for the year, that’s right, I said it! It’s that good. Go see it, it’s great, highly recommended. #PoppinMollys #BloomMeAway #MichaelCeruhhhh #DirtbagDad

Kelvin Says Hats Off:

Just saw “Molly’s Game: I Just Need to Get Back to Even Stevens Movie.” Conclusion: 9/10. Writer turned first-time director Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network, Moneyball, Steve Jobs) does not disappoint. Sharp, witty, and captivating, Molly’s Game hits the ground running and does not slow down. Idris Elba and Jessica Chastain reflect great chemistry together and exhibit the charisma needed to bring the fast-paced writing to life. Chastain’s character, the titular Molly Bloom, is self-starting and more than anything smart. It’s through her performance that Chastain is able to sell the story. The story is enthralling in its own right. Complementing the quick-draw poker is the artistic vision of the film. The cuts are quick, banter sharp, and it never slows down. It creates an experience that is akin to one of an actual game of poker. The stylistic components, stellar performances, and fun story deftly mesh together. It’s certainly one of the more entertaining watches from 2017. #PopAMolly #JacksToTheTits #BradToTheBone #DoomAndBloom #DeezNuts #SexistHoldEm #IdrisElbae
