Kelvin Says Hats On:
Just saw “Pacific Rim: Uprising” – I’ve Got the Moves Like Jaeger. Conclusion: 5/10. There is something about watching giant robots fight giant monsters that has such a primal and basic appeal. Much like the first Pacific Rim movie, the fights in this sequel are highly watchable. Unfortunately, that’s about the only worthwhile aspect present in the first movie that is carried over. The movie is far too Marvel-y for its own good. The tone is light and the writing is cheesy. What I loved so much about the original movie was that the movie took itself serious without being self-serious. It saw itself as a war movie with sci-fi drapings. Uprising would have done well to have maintained that tone and eschewed the jokey elements. The cast, for their part, do the best they can, but the material is not good enough for anyone to really spin their character into someone believable. In the end, that is what’s sorely missing. While the fighting will make you forget that for a little while, the movie just keeps feeling like an empty shell. #DayOfPentecost #ShaoTime #NewtOfAllEvil #WestSideMori #TheresAHoleInTheBottomOfTheSea #CanYouBeMorePacific

‘Pacific Rim: Uprising’: Some Like It Bot (4/10)
It had some nice looking action sequences, and I really liked the relationships between the Jaeger pilots. Other than that, it was crap. Dumb story line, dumb villain, not funny, not interesting, and I didn’t care. #Jaegerbomb #Kaijugottabesorude #Amaraneverdies #insaneinthebrain #lierobot
