Kelvin Says Hats Off:
Just saw “Ocean’s 8” – Con Girl. Conclusion: 8/10. Have seen it twice now and I thoroughly enjoyed it both times. I’m a bit of a sucker for these movies so I was on-board and willing to overlook some of the movie’s flaws. They’re there, but they didn’t really bother me. It had enough charm and aura of the previous three movies to earn that slack. Sandra Bullock was a natural for this role, the sister of George Clooney’s Danny Ocean, and I bought everything she was selling. The opening few sequences with her are quite fun and gave me the confidence she could at the very least carry the rest of the cast. I think there are some weak points in the casting, but Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, and Sarah Paulson all shine brightly. The story they have to work within isn’t the strongest of the Ocean’s movies, but I definitely don’t think it’s the weakest of the franchise. The twists and turns are a bit familiar but still enjoyable. While it is not directed by Steven Soderbergh, the movie tries hard to emulate the feel of his original trilogy. In some ways it’s successful – I’d say the score was a particular high note for me – however it does come up short in others, mainly the plot. As a director, Gary Ross simply is not as creative or inspired as Soderbergh so perhaps that’s all to be expected. Whatever the case may be, Bullock has her hand on the wheel throughout and, for me, she drove things home. #KlugerTown #YouWinSomeYouLouSome #OceanPicture #ItsBeenAWeil #DontGoTakingMyArt

‘Ocean’s 8’: Better Eight Than Never (6/10)
It was entertaining, and had some great characters, but overall it was very disappointing. I was very excited for this movie going into it, but the lack of real tension really takes away from the experience given that it’s a heist movie. The characters are good, but there are too many for any of them to get the attention they deserve. It helps that it was funny and progressed at a good pace, but the story was a bit lacking. #getaKluger #ajewelserrand #girlsjustwannahavefunds #parolemodel #paininthenecklace #thegratefuleight

This movie had a lot of promise with a stellar cast, which included one of my favorites, Cate Blanchett. While this movie was fairly entertaining and had some “cool” moments, it was pretty bland. It was by no means “wowing” and didn’t have the same pop as the previous Ocean’s movies. Although I should admit I only saw Ocean’s Eleven. There were some cool characters and they devised a pretty good plan. But at its conclusion, I thought, “oh that’s it then I guess.” Underwhelming. My big critiques spoil the movie, so I won’t write them here. Feel free to ask!
